So it looks like you issue with Schwinn is that they offered a full line of bikes. Thats what makes them uncool to you- they offered more than just top level road bikes which is all thats 'cool'....

Thats a helluva sweeping claim. Nope, they arent your beloved italian offerings, but calling most of Schwinn's bikes junk seems excessive.
