wrong, but rear braking is very useful on wet roads or surfaces with some loose sand/gravel.

Front brake only is okay on a FG bike, but stupid on a bike with a freewheel/freehub.

Rear brake...

In the past decade I've become quite good at modulating the front brake. Several times I've ridden out of nose wheelies on a FG bike, but I would never give up the rear brake on a freewheeling bike.
