I don't think you really have a choice - but then again I do see really short people riding 29ers. If nothing else try 650B if you can't decide or find a 26er...

If your wife is under 5'10" and not a skilled or experienced rider, she may hate a 29er... on smaller sized frames (less than large/19) there is the whole wierd toe overlap thing going on... I know...
