If you have space and don't want to beat the original parts, pull the racks and put a new one on. Those are not real heavy duty on the front. A quick rub on the pads with a coarse file will help...

Good grief! Nice copy! The front rack is original too! The TA water bottle cage fetches good bucks on ebay as well. Real find! Do the bearings then ride it awhile. You may not want to change this...
