My current favorite setup however is Zoom Brahma bars (the version that curl back in at the ends) with regular MTB shifter/brake lever combos.

If you're planning on using panniers (saddlebags) I wouldn't go with a rack quite like this. Unless you're using it on a touring bike with long chainstays, you're going to run into heel strike issues...
