Did my first Metric Century
I turned 56 in May and did my first Metric Century logging in over 65 miles today with my son. This is my first year of biking since high school. Love it. So far I've lost about 26 pounds.

Fantastic! Great your son joined you - why didn't your wife?
BTW - Your son's bike only has one water bottle, platform pedals down tube shifters - I hope you went real easy on him.
Congrats on the weight loss - your looking pretty trim.
And one last observation - wife sure has great taste in bikes - that Miyata looks like a keeper.

My wife cooked for us when we got home so she stayed behind. My son stayed right on my tail, drafting me the whole way. Smart kid.
Here's a picture of my other Miyata. It's an 84 710. Not the greatest picture.

Very well done! I did my first metric Century 2 weeks ago but I started back seriously last year and had been cycling on and off for a few years before that.
Good for you, keep it up.
Century next, before the cycling season ends?

Good job, keep going. I also started last year after long lay off since just after high school. 65 years old, dropped 25 pounds, bp down, hr low fiftes plus having a lot of fun. Why didn't i do this sooner? I used to sneer at cyclists on the road, now i am one of them. Stay safe.

I used to kind of laugh at the Spandex shorts ect. Now look at me. I'm going to do my first group ride Thursday if I can get home from work in time. I've caught the bug. I've been an autocrosser for over 30 years. I guess I've found a new hobby. Has to be less expensive than racing cars. Well maybe not. I usually don't do anything half baked once I get into something I like. Let's see... new wheels, groupset, ect. Might as well just upgrade with a new bike. LOL
