What is with the "Reson for Editing" text field?

When you go to edit your post there are two boxes..."reason for editing" and "reason for deleting"! What the hell are these for? I never use them when I edit/delete, do they serve any purpose?
(or is this just for the Mod's to tally up what member makes the most mistakes and why, when they post?

No idea bob. I know we use them to let each other know why we have removed posts. And I guess you can see your own deleted posts, so it might be for you to understand why you removed it.

At one time there could have been a step to approve an edit before a change could be made. Now, there are so many members and this board is so active members can edit on their own accord. The work load for the mods would be too difficult.
