Non-shrinking bike mirror

Hi Friends,

I'm looking for a non-shrinking sideview or rearview bike mirror. That is, one that reflects true image size and distance.

[All that I've seen lately are shrinking/"convex" mirrors which distort distance. That's not what I need.]

Any product referrals would be much appreciated.

Thanks very much,

TM

I made my own from a dental mirror and an aligator clip. It clips onto the visor of my helmet.

I use the Take-A-Look attached to my glasses. It doesn't distort sizes and provides a good sized image. It stays in place and has held up through more than four years of weekday commuting.

I just ordered 2 Take-A-Look mirrors from Bike Tires Direct. $11.95 ea. plus shipping. I've heard here that they work well and I had to get something to keep an eye on whose behind me on the commute.

Hi,

Thanks for the tip.

I am considering ordering but understand this mirror attaches only to eyeglasses or "helmet visor". I don't have either of these things. Need something that can simply attach to the helmet.

Any ideas? Please advise

Thanks for info.

Regarding these mirrors, is each convex or flat?

Take-a-Look is flat, and is a very good mirror. Unlike bar-mounted mirrors, it doesn't have nearly as much vibration, so the view is sharper. Plus, with a slight turn of your head, you can easily see everything behind you, even on a curving road.

The problem with these mirrors is that when there's a good amount of wind, the mirror gets moved, and then you're spending your time rocking your head side to side like you're doing a Stevie Wonder imitation. After a while, it's just easier to look back.

I've been over 50 mph many times with my Take-a-Look and never had it move out of adjustment.

Yeah, I've never had a problem w/ any of them moving, not even after hitting multiple infamous Chicago potholes.

Both the Blackburn and Cycle Aware are flat, not convex.

I use the Cycle Aware Reflex Flexible Helmet Mirror and don't have any problem with I"m moving. Buddy had one that he was was alway adjusting and it got loose. I took some sand paper and roughed up the ball and the socket arms and it held like new after that.

I don't think the mirror moved up or down but it's probably due to the fact that the weight of the device tends to drop your glasses down your nose.

I have the "Third Eye" that mounts on my glasses. I've had them occasionally get loose but found that simply pressing the two parts firmly together solved the problem for months. In fact, the two mirrors I own, once I did this, they never came loose since.
