Dual Crown (Sherman Slider) Help**********

I have a 2004 Specialized Big hit Comp. I just bought this Manitou Sherman Slider. It is a size Small. The headset size in Millimeters is 156.5mm from cup-to-cup . I checked the fit chart and my bike is the right size for a "Small" Sherman Fork. I took these pictures showing how the top crown does not fit entirely down on the fork. Is this ok?? There is a 2cm difference. The bikes head size was at the very top of the "Small" requirements, so it could have even fit into a "Large" fork. I just want to know if this is ok.?

Are you all the way down to the "min" line on the stanchions. It would appear below your mid crown. If you aren't anywhere near it, undo the bolts on the second crown and slide the stanchions up

I have this setup with a standard steerer length. it should work just dandy

Im sorry, I don't know what "Stachions" means...and my terminology table in the adobe acrobat manual is freezing my computer. I'll check.

Ok, I slid the stanchion up so that the top crown fits flush. Now, where do I measure the travel to make sure that it is still ok? Because I did just lower the bottom crown. I want to make sure that if I do bottom out, that the tire won't hit on the bottom crown.

Zip tie around on of the stanctions and measure that way. If you can't bottom it easily you are more than likely fine.

I am 6'3 220lbs. When I bunny hop I can't bottom it, but it comes about 3 inches away from hitting the crown.

You won't be able to bottom it. The fork is INCREDIBLY stiff. Drop the air to 50psi (if I remember right, thats the lowest you can go before the internals start knocking themselves around)...remove all spv (which will still be to stiff) and remove all preload....

it will be better, but still stiff as hell.

Dude thats cool but I don't know if I want to get rid of all that stuff. I have 40lbs in the SPV...I want to start to dirt jump, maybe 8 to 10 feet in the air. Do you think this setup is sufficient?

You don't need it. It makes it TOOOO stiff. At 280...I find the fork too stiff with the xfirm

UPDATE:

Thanks for the replies guys. I just want to let everyone know that I took the spring cap off and bottomed it. There was about 1in from the tire to the lower crown; so im good. I had no clue that there was no "Stock Setting" for this fork, that was scaring me. I still could get a large drop-down crown just to be safe if anyone knows where to get one. Anyways, I 've got everything set now...thanks guys.
