laundry, not riding straining marriage
it being winter time here in the upper midwest, i seem to accumulate many pieces of laundry very quickly.
the problem is what/where do you put your 'wet' stuff? you can't put it in the laundry wet. i end up draping it over the tub to at least dry. once you have sham shorts, tights, socks, arm warmers, 3 or more 'layers' on top, balaclava or neck/head warmer, light glove that i wear under my lobsters, etc ---> i've got a load right there.
when i ride on consecutive days it adds up.
the laundry room is full of the family's daily laundry.
anyone have this problem?
(i'm not even mentioning what happens when i run out of my favorite cold weather piece because it is in the laundry and doesn't pass the sniff test)

I get the hairy eyeball at times when I go though a set of work clothes, cycling clothes, gym clothes and evening lounging clothes.
What can I say? Would you rather I be fat?

One thing that I do to limit laundry is to bring a bucket into the shower with you and wash socks, jersey, and shorts while I take my shower.
I use the basement to stage all my gear. Hats, gloves, jackets and the like, I just dry them out and wash them when they fail the sniff test. I don't think it is such a great idea to wash breathable fabrics too much.
You might try just dropping your stuff in the washing machine and starting the wash cycle when you come in, that way your SO would not have to deal with soggy, sweaty clothes.
I have the exact opposite problem as you. My wife is a "laundry nut". The mere idea that a pile of "dirty" clothes might be somewhere in the house prevents her from sleeping. I have to hide my judogi (a martial arts uniform) otherwise she would wear it out just from washing it.
regards
Dan

depending on the weather i usually just replace the under layer and recycle the outer. the amout of days the outer gets recycled is dependent on once again weather conditions and whether i'm going to be riding with other people or not.

When nothing passes the sniff test, you know it's time to do laundry, thats my motto.

Do you separate colors? I tend to stuff as much as I can into one load, regardless of color.

I just undress in the laundry room, chuck it right into the washer and run it.
I don't trust anyone else to do it anyway. Last time she did my biking laundry the tights ended up in the drier on high and now they don't quite make it down past my ankles.

Fubar, your military roots are showing. Your room is neat compared to my kids' when they were your age. A few times it got so out of control that they actually agreed to my taking a snow shovel in to load stuff into trash bags.

i actually had to put my 8 and 5 year old in the same room together when the baby came so i still had one bedroom for my bike clothes and stuff. i hate when i can't find the arm warmers or earband.
ever since i realized that layering was where it was at i've had laundry problems.

My mom's been telling me I need to get married...Where the heck is that coming from???? I'm freakin' 18(19 in two days)!!!!! Plus, like I'm going to find a woman who'd keep a mess like me cleaned up..Yeah right, they'd look at me and say, "Whatever dude, it's your mess, you clean it up, I'm going for a ride."

fubar, you should feel fortunate that you have females that let you live like that. My wife makes me clean, or she ain't cooking dinner. Enjoy it while you can.
