Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Minneapolis love! Sweet bike. I ride by the Appleman and Peacock Groove shops on my way to the river, every once in a while. I'd love to peek around in there sometime.

edit - Is your bike going to NAHBS?

Thanks.

No, the bike is not going to NAHBS. Couldn't wait to ride it, although the weather is really....here in Illinois right now.

Very very nice! Similar to gc3's parlee. Love the simplicity of it. There is a lot of win in there.

The Appleman is awesome, I've seen it elsewhere. Full custom with all sorts of unique Appleman touches.

Originally Antwerp, but we lived in Grimbergen.
We now live in Illinois since 2012. Wish we had a bit of your weather over here so I could take the bike out for a ride.

Correct, Matt has been interviewed in relation to the upcoming NAHBS show and the bike was shown on a couple of websites (even Japanese )

That's around 50km of where my dad lives. And the weather around here isn't too great either.

So I'm a bit of a weight weenie tho i know it makes little difference at my level of riding (mediocre but getting better). BIke weighed in at 14 pounds before pedals were added. At least the lightweight makes it easier to carry if I break down miles from anywhere.

Took it on 83 mile strava gran fondo on mlk day in 30 degree temps. Such a comfortable bike. At the fitting they changed to a shorter stem as I've got some back issues.

Well..... the chainring/cassette combo not set correctly. Seat bag and rear reflector need to go for the presentation. Seat post, errrr, ummm, YUK! So, me no like. Nun hot.

Ride it anyhow, and ENJOY!

This bike has the potential to be hot.
If you stage it properly, & conform to the "rules" of this thread it could be hot.
Still a nice bike.

Curious about the shorter stem...
Wouldn't a shorter stem put more pressure on your back?
For me, if the stem is too short, I feel to crunched/scrunched up.
I prefer my back to be closer to straight, rather than curved. I don't have to be down low like the pros, but a straight back is much better for me.
I have a wonky back as well, but I went with a long stem.

when the fitter did my fitting after assessing my flexibility (especially my lower back from an injury) and range of motion, she felt the shorter stem would work better for me, and so far I'm very happy with it.

I'm going to give anything that's straight black/white/silver/gray a thumbs down. You're going to have to do something to really make your bike stand out.

Strange...
I have lower back pain as well.
Our bodies, are not all alike, so I'm not trying to say your fit is wrong.
I have a long torso, & average length legs, so longer works better for me.

I often have a hard time getting a bike to fit right, not quite S/M (toe overlap), not quite M/L(not too much seat post exposed
). I usuall have to go with 54cm cause 53-53.5 is getting hard to find now. I need that longer top tub.

Enjoy that sweet ride!

I know, I've been occupied with other crap...good news, I put in 8.5 hours on the bike this week, so at least I'm getting back in the swing of things.

I've been trying to eat better this year...it's amazing how much time goes into finding recipes that are healthy and then attempting to cook them. Pizza is so much easier.

Here's my ride with its race wheels on. It's got a number hanger on the frame. I'm a 37-year-old cat 3, got a bit of the old school. It weighs 15.25 lbs with a 60 cm frame.

I've seen that bike on a Heroner's ride if I recall correctly. Hot! I actually remember saying very nice ride going up Seminole at the beginning of the ride.

Thanks, Ricanfred and Ghost Ryder. Ricanfred, yes, I remember that ride -- I think we were talking about the MotoGP documentaries -- Faster and Fastest -- later in the ride. Late August or early September? Ghost Ryder, agreed, long live 7800.
