Replacement Chain - Length
Hi everyone -
As time goes on I am making sure to do all my maintenance myself. I have what may seem like a rather stupid question.
I bought an Ultegra 9 Speed chain, and am going to replace my current chain.
How do I know if it is the right length? (I am on a Specialized Allez Comp 58cm)
My brain tells me there must be different lengths, since my wife rides a 47cm Trek, they could not possibly need to be the same length!
Thanks in advance.
Matt

Just ride.
Your question isn't stupid, but here's my stupid question... why not just make it the same number of links as the old chain (since the old chain will be stretched)? I don't actually count links, just lay 'em down side by side and match links.

I do that, and it works fine. The old chain will be just slightly longer than the old, but just slightly.
