On Sunday, I took a ride up through van Cortlandt Park. This fellow was fishing catch-and-release on the lake. He caught a bass while I was there.

Yesterday we finished up a 3-day/2-night bike tour, 129 miles, some suburbia by necessity, some nice rural roads with a thick tree canopy.

Some random pics:

L to R back row: Rachel, Dallas (photogravity), my sweetie Sharon, myself, Tom (noglider), Carol, Dan. Louise. In front: Bern (berner).

A rest stop on the return:

Dallas and Rachel's Bilenky, loaded up and ready to roll:

Is breakfast ready yet?

Bern and myself, ready to head home:

More rummaging:

Loading up a trailer:

Finally - awful weather Last week it was 35 degrees celsius day and night, some spring rain, cyclones and stuff, and it drop down to 20C.
Local hill, just under 1000m attitude, windy with some rain and temperature is around 12C at the top hehe.

View towards the capital.

My cyclocomputer stopped working.

Poor panoramic shot

Thanks for the pics all!

Looks like fun.

Branimir, you live in an absoluely beautiful country.

Unfortunately we did not have enough time to visit Zagreb.

Maybe next time.

But we thoroughly enjoyed the many stops along the Dalmation coast!

Great pictures Jim! Many thanks for posting these.

One thing for sure is that this is the most fun we've had all year. Thanks for leading/hosting the ride.

Sharon wanted to do a ride and some grocery shopping. So we rode from our front door in Waltham out to Hutchins Farm in Concord, bought some good stuff there, and made a stop at TJ's on the MM on the way home. But first stopped for lunch at the North Bridge:

Our destination:

The check-out person was amused about us putting all the stuff on a bike. And another customer asked what Sharon intended to do with all the veggies, said it was enough for an army. I secretly think the same thing, but who am I to argue with my sweetie/stoker? After the TJ's stop we probably had 50lbs of food, but after last week's tour it didn't seem like so much.

For post-ride recovery, cantalope, cheese stick, IPA!

first 30k ride by Shlammed, on Flickr

Did a 32k ride today with a buddy with my Miyata and his vintage Italian ride today.

https://app.strava.com/activities/75662614

1h 25min. Was pretty casual ride so we could finish it but we pumped it hard in the last segment though. Hopefully shave a few minutes off the next time we run it.

Today I subway'ed/rode out to Cunningham Park. Did a few loops and was impressed by the new purchase I was riding. Technically this was its shakedown ride... and unsurprisingly the headset was shaken loose by all the hopping about on the rocky trails. Other than that there were no mechanical malfunctions to report -- other than my own. Happily, I managed to stay more or less upright and on the bike the whole ride.

Apparently I was too focused on photographing my bike to properly document the trip.

Goofed around in the Marin Headlands on Saturday.

Marincello Fire Road

San Francisco and the Golden Gate from the Headlands.

Denizens of the marsh.

16 gravel miles
42 paved miles
5,800 feet of climbing
One flat tire
One wrong turn ending on a freeway

Nice photos everyone. I decided to stay home today after getting stung during yesterday's ride and now I'm battling one large, red, and itchy neck. I'll be back out on Friday. 2 weeks to Cino Heroica - can't wait.

Me too! The bikes my son and I will be riding all ready to go, everything sorted out. He'll be riding my Bruce Gordon and I'll be on the Singer.
I've been biding my time mostly on MTB rides the past few weeks. Looking forward to seeing you and RogerM soon...

Have been visiting the in-laws in Wisconsin, north of Madison. Riding the rolling hills of Columbia county. The corn is as high as an elephants eye and the soybeans look good. The humidity is higher than I am used to but tolerable. Been doing 25 to 55 miles a day and loving it.

That fire road photo looks familiar, which is odd since I live in Vermont and am not much of a traveler. Is that the dirt road that has appeared a number of times in the Rivendell catalog?
Please, let's not get into a big Grant Peterson discussion. I'm just curious.

I've never seen the Rivendell Catalog so I can't answer your question. (though I do own one of their caps!)

One of Grant Petersen's projects before Rivendell was a wonderful little book called Roads to Ride which included maps and elevation profiles of great riding roads in Alameda, Contra Costa, and Marin County. (Heyday Books, 1984) The Rivendell folks are known to come over to this side of the bay so your idea is not entirely far fetched.

Phew--I was thinking I must be a loser for not having ever seen The Rockford Files or Emergency or M.A.S.H. (although I've at least heard of
the Rockford Files, and even know what M.A.S.H. was about). But then it turns out that you've never seen the Rivendell catalog. Ha! You're almost as out of touch as I am!

Rivendell catalog? What's that?

I've been riding mostly for my commute these past few weeks, and occasionally a mid-day lunch ride. Today I managed an errand to the next town over. Rode this:

First time out after building those wheels, vintage Fiamme Yellow Label on Normandy high-flange hubs. I gotta' put some better tires on it.

Nice looking bike bike Jim!

I've been working a ton lately and have only been able to ride my short commute for the last couple of weeks.
Here is my decidedly non cv Surly on the way in to work this morning.
