I'm beginning to plan a tour from Bonners Ferry, ID, to Glacier, then south to Yellowstone, ending in Jackson, WY.

Anyone have any tips for roads, camping spots, showers, etc? All the normal tour information.

Don't have a whole lot of tips about your route but I did really enjoy riding through Glacier last summer. Amazing views. I've done Yellowstone in a car only. Hope to do just as you and ride my bike into the park sometime soon I hope.

Are you going over the Going-To-The-Sun Road?

There's a nice campground at Whitefish Lake with showers and hiker/biker sites. However, the trains go by all night and blow their horns seemingly across the street from the campsite. They gave me earplugs when I paid my campground fee!

I don't have any tips, but for what its worth, I'll be cycling through that way a week from now. Overall plan is to ride from West Glacier, MT to Casper, WY over the course of ten days as a short tour. I'll likely take a fairly direct set of roads which means:

West Glacier
MT 83 to MT 200 to MT 141 to Helena
US287 via Three Forks to West Yellowstone
Cross YNP via West Thumb to Teton NP
US26/287 via Riverton and Shoshoni to Casper

I'll be carrying a tent and camping, but have also looked up on motelguide.com likely Mom-n-Pop motels in some small towns on the way for some nights if it makes sense.

I have cycled every possible paved route between the two parks and some dirt, too.

I have a tour on Crazyguy which is the route from Jackson to Yellowstone to Glacier - i.e. reversed.

This route roughly follows US 89 east of the divide.
It is much better than Hwy 87 west of the divide.
Less traffic, better views, better shoulders.
Plus, southbound, you should have more tailwinds than headwinds.

If you will be coming in from West Glacier, that will let you do Going to the Sun Road.
Best camping in Glacier - Avalanche on the west, Rising Sun on the east.
Apgar and St. Mary are huge, bleah campgrounds IHO.

You really should consider heading up to Many Glacier - awesome.
If you did that, you could take IR 464 to Browning rather than US 89.
The stretch of US 89 on the east side of the park is narrow with RVs.

Browning has a nice private campground on the west side of town.
There in-town camping in Dupuyer and Choteau.
They'll let you camp in Fairfield if you ask.
Great Falls has a nice riverside trail and bike shops.

The ride from Belt to Livingston is super - stunning vistas.
Lots of places to camp.
Take the back road into Livingston north of the river -
Then heading into Yellowstone - take the road on the east side.
