Huge phallic symbol on the road??
I like watching the crap/art/graffiti that fans pan on the roads. Lately I've seen "EPO Lance" and "Lance, Rip Their Balls Off!" and stuff like that, but every year I see a huge image of a ****** on the road surface. I've seen it in the Vuelta too. The first time I saw it I laughed, but now I'm thinking there must be some odd fertility/virility tradition with it, and not just some idiot fans saying "hey, I'm going to draw a pee-pee on the road, be looking for it on TV."
Anyone know anything about it, for real? Oddly, OLN hasn't had Sam Posey do a "history of penis on the road" story yet.

I like the stuff on the road too. Must be a lot of vulgar stuff though, since the aerial shots are kept to a minimal and as soon as I see something vulgar, they change camera angles.

No tradition. Just drunk fans drawing what they think is funny.....dicks, syringes, boobies, insults. All part of the Tour.

It must have been an American or Aussie who did it, because we all know that the Europeans are way too cultured and superior to do something like that.

Christian Vandevelde mentioned something about this on his diary. He said he has no idea why they do it, but he sort of laughs every time he runs over one.
