Old Derailleurs Question

I am fixing up an old 10s miyata sports for a friend...doing about what you would do to a flip...repack, new cables, etc. The bike isn't anything special but I have alloy replacements for a bunch of steel parts (handlebars, wheels, brake levers). I also have some derailleurs that I can swap out...

The bike came with Suntour Honor RD and Suntour Spirit FD. I have a random shimano Altus FD and Eagle GTO RD (seems like a really long cage compared to the suntour).

Any point to switching these out? The Eagle GTO RD seems like heavy junk but the altus might be ok. Also, I am putting in 6s cassette unless there are any pressing reasons to stick with the 5s (they both look like they have little wear but the 5s is rusted to hell and the 6s is clean).

Finally, I am probably going to switch from the suntour stem shifters to a pair of shimano stem shifters. The shimano ones have longer levers and they ratchet in one direction...this combo might make it easier for her to shift.

Why would you consider swapping them in the first place?

Well, they are already off the bike soaking in oxalic acid

I wouldn't really consider swapping the rear but if the shimano FD is better...why not? Whichever one I don't use is just getting donated to the bucket full of FDs at the coop

edit: and I don't really know anything about the quality of old suntour parts other than that cyclone gets thrown around a lot as a good thing

The Suntour Spirt has it's unique charms. Google it before you replace it.

I would rank the suntour honor well above the shimano Eagle. I would favor leaving the suntour parts on the bike.

I think the suntour RD looks better too.

Ok, I am keeping the suntour derailleurs in front and back

I think I will still put the shimano shifters on though. They seem to be in better condition and while they are both pretty low end, I think the girl the bike is going to will prefer the added leverage and the ratcheting mechanism

Also...this being my first time using oxalic acid...let me use this post for my obligatory "WOW!!! I can't believe it works like that" post
