Mafac Mystery Quiz
Here's a puzzler for the vintage cycle enthusiast. What happened to the lettering on this brake caliper?

Ding, ding, ding. We have a winner. Damn, I thought it would take longer.
It was actually just assembled the wrong way (arms flipped). I just thought somebody had polished the letters off as you could see it was polished at one time. But with the caliper in a relaxed state you could not see the back well enough to notice. Took me longer to figure it out! My cap is off to you.

Someone let it too long in an acidic solvent of sorts to get rid of oxidation and the letters were lifted. (or it was scrubbed too hard with a an SOS pad)
