Ding, ding, ding. We have a winner. Damn, I thought it would take longer.
It was actually just assembled the wrong way (arms flipped). I just thought somebody had polished the letters off as you could see it was polished at one time. But with the caliper in a relaxed state you could not see the back well enough to notice. Took me longer to figure it out! My cap is off to you.
