I remember listening to Barbie Girl in the Sari Club a few years before the bombing. They played it every other song.

That place was awesome, and probably one of the best nights (and worse nights) of my life. Women do that to you!

Saw Sara Barellis and Pink over the last couple of weeks.

Sara was most excellent. Pink could have done with less staging (she can actually sing like a ***********). Though having her fly over our heads during "So What" was pretty bad ass...

Yeah Pink has maybe the best voice out there. Her cover of Bobby McGee is insane.

for anyone interested.

I can't decide if I like it, or if it feels a little strained. Spot on Janis, though.

Yeah, that's not the one I heard -- sounds like she was coming down with something. This is the version I was thinking of (smoother, IMO):

Oh, yes, that's better.

2003, damn. Didn't think she'd been around for that long.

I find it slightly amusing that so many grown men like Pink. That's cute. But then again, who am I to judge, the crap I listen to doesn't count as music to most.

Personally, I've been jamming out to Kraftwerk a ton as of late.

Talent is talent. Same with good song writing. My "shuffle mode" covers just about everything. Including Kraftwerk

Easy to pull off something in the studio after 42 takes and an auto tune. If you sound better live than you do on the recording you got something.

amen.

i've always been a big fan of female vocals (my musical interests are very diverse). years ago, vocals were recorded in one take, which took quite a bit of talent. now if a singer misses a note during a take that note can be manipulated or, to ex's point, taken from one of the other 41 takes.

pink's got some pipes.

going w gf and one of her girlfriends to see Tame Impala in LA next week. For those not in the know, they are total "throwback" psychedelic style rock band with sounds reminiscent of certain Beatles albums and pre David Gilmore Pink Floyd:

My Morning Jacket was one of my favorite bands...have seen them at least 10 times between festivals and their own concerts. Then I moved to AZ and they decided they wouldn't play here since our state is run by morons. I agree with them, but also dislike them a bit for alienating their fans. At least their new stuff is crappy compared to their old stuff, so I'm not missing out on too much.

I see NIN on the 9th...dare I say I'm more excited to see EITS again, then NIN.

On the upside, at least they play a lot of old stuff live.
