I wear a plain grey Merino Wool 'buff' on cold nights.... keeps the ears, face, and neck nice and warm....
it's like a long knitted tube or sorts, I usually double it up over itself....

I know the website domain name sounds gay as hell, but check out their products....
you can also find them on ebay, which is where I purchased mine....

I used to wear a neoprene ski maks while commuting in CLE.
Now that I am in TX I have to wear this to maintain my supple features:
Seeing the world through cucumber lenses helps me to navigate traffic while reducing wrinkles.
Enjoy

I ride in very cold weather, and I have experimented with face protection.
I find my nose and cheekbones take the cold the worst.
Global Vision Big Ben Over-the-Glasses Goggles sufficiently cover my nose and cheekbones and make it possible to ride down to minus 15 F.

At those temperatures, you need anti-fog stuff:

Ask me about gloves.

I have spent a fortune on high tech gloves, including Pearl Izumi Full Lobster gloves, and nothing worked...until...
an inexpensive wool liner glove, like Smart Wool glove liners for $18 ($14 if you shop around)
https://www.smartwool.com/default.cf...ories/-/_/389/
with those cheap cotton-poly white gardening gloves over the top, $5 for a dozen pair
https://www.wasserstrom.com/restauran...Product_312520
will keep my hands comfortably warm down to 0 degrees fahrenheit, if I have good bar tape to keep my handlebars from acting as a heat sink.
The cotton gloves wash up nice, or you can throw them away, and they protect the wool liners from snags and abrasion.
I have no idea why this combo works as well as it does, even in the rain, but it does.
Plus, the white gloves make your hands and you much more visible; and, if the gloves get too warm, just take them off and they fit easily into a pocket.
And the white gloves alone, without the liners, make cool mornings and nights pleasant without over heating.
