Kind of a newb, but hit a milestone yesterday!

After starting a new job last year and finding out that I'd gotten back above 300# last year, I decided I needed to do something to lose some weight so I picked up a Windsor mtn. bike last summer. Living in Moab, I figured I'd do mostly road riding but I know I'd have to hit the trails occasionally Unfortunately, just as I was getting some stamina and doing over 5 miles at a time, I broke my leg at work 8 steel screws, one plate, and 8 months later, I made 10+ miles for the first time in my life Not much, but I'm pretty excited! I haven't lost much weight, but I'm feeling a ton better and hoping to start riding to work a couple of times each week (6.5 miles each way) here in a couple of weeks once I can spring for some new tires.

Years of wondering why people would want to ride a bike, I think I'm finally starting to get it

Good for you. But ride to work four times a week, not two. You know it makes sense...

Steel screws! What kind of retro biker gets steel screws in his leg?

Me? Titanium plate and 4 titanium screws, thank you. Wouldn't think of using something that is going to rust in my foot.

Pfft.

Congratulations on your milestone... that's great!
