Journal of my recent bike tour up the Atlantic Coast
In May-June, 2010, I rode my bicycle from Charleston, SC to Lambertville, NJ via the Outer Banks, Williamsburg, Tangier Island, and the Delmarva Peninsula. I used the ACA Atlantic Coast route up to Suffolk, VA and then made my own route the rest of the way.
The entire trip of 1050 miles took 30 days, including 20 days of riding, 7 days visiting Charleston, Williamsburg, Richmond, and Atlantic City, and 3 rest days.
While the US East Coast isn't Switzerland, it was a pleasant bike tour along flat, tree-lined roads.
This was the first bike tour I've taken where the highlight (visiting the Historic Triangle) wasn't something I saw on my bike.
You can read the day-by-day journal of this tour here. This includes 28 daily entries of text, lots of pictures, and a few informational links.
I am always amazed that it takes me longer to write the journals than to actually ride the tour!
