New to the forums.

Hey everyone. I'm stationed in San Diego and picked up a bike today for the first time in 15 years. Figured I'd stop by and say hi to everyone in the area. I hope to learn alot from everyone here, and I'm sure I will.

Hey Nacho. So today I found out that Balboa park in the weekend is HORRIBLE for biking. What are some good runs that people in San Dog take? I have a hybrid bike so no mountains/serious off roading for me.

You could check out a cool ride-- go from downtown San Diego to the Silver Strand on Coronado (through National City, check mapmyride) and up the strand, ride around Coronado, and take the ferry back to the B Street Pier.

Around Fiesta Island? I know there's a TT people do there, but it's flat and you could do a bunch of laps. Cruising up and down 101 in North County is always a joy. If you get more comfortable riding in traffic, it's flat from Del Mar up to Oceanside. Absolutely beautiful too.

I second this. Back when we had longer days and before I moved to Long Beach I used to ride around the bay and back after long confusing and stressful days at the office. I thiiiink it's called Bayshore Bikepath.
If you can hit the strand before 11-12 in the afternoon you'll miss most of the southbound wind.

I wouldn't recommend Harbor at night however (unless they've fixed it in the last 6 months). It gets pretty dark and the roots of trees have grown up under parts of the street leaving it bumpy.
