I found this Kilo in my size (53) on CL and jumped on it after constantly reading on here that it's the best bike in it's price range.

The pedals and freewheel were installed by the previous owner. I added the rear brake and aero levers.

I'd like to experiment with fixed gear so in the future I plan to put a cog on and change the pedals.

Anyone know of any other options for cable stays? I'm not a big fan of the chrome ones.
I tried using only 2 but the cable would vibrate into the frame every time I hit a bump.

Nice find, how much did it cost? Also, that's a very good idea to change out the pedals if you're going fixed, unless you add straps.

I'll add in the new incarnation of my Kilo, a friend of mine who runs a bike shop gave me some risers so those should be going on in a few days along with cutting the steer tube down to steal some spacers.

Grabbed a few pics of the dirty kilo while I was waiting for the bus. Sorry for the terrible cellphone pictures.

Will definitely be upgrading the wheels next. I think I'm going to run a silver FOER 41 to miche hub in the rear, and a velocity aerohead in the front. Never built a wheelset before, so I'm a bit nervous. But, I think I can handle it.

A bit over 200 and well worth it IMO compared to what else is available at that price.

I have a set of Look Keo pedals with road shoes. They are nice for longer rides but are inconvenient for city riding with constant stops.

Apparently the MKS GR9 are well reviewed on the forum but for the short time I rode with straps I didn't feel too safe coming to sudden stops.
I've had close calls where I couldn't get my feet out as fast as I would like.

What's the solution to this problem? Loosen the straps? I was thinking maybe SPD type pedals with a casual shoe which allows you to walk around would work out well.

I was wondering what the purple would look like with more white accents. Thanks for the pics.

No. Looks more like a 53cm would be about right for you.

I don't understand the appeal of risers, but i dig that shade of purple alot. Looks a little different from the shade i saw on BD a while ago, probably just lighting XD

I don't understand where you got the size 57cm, when your calculator results don't say it anywhere.

Assuming you measured yourself correctly, TT is right, 53cm seems right.

This, pretty much. I never had trouble accelerating on a bmx bike.

However, I don't like risers simply because of the look and lack of hand positions. BUT it's your bike, and it should always just be whatever feels comfortable for you, to each their own.
