Good seat post?
I snapped my stock bontrager carbon post this morning half way through my morning commute (23.5 miles each way)...Anyway was thinking of replacing it with the Thomson Elite...Couple of questions:
1. Is this post sturdy enough for 250lbs + 25 (pack) of goodness?
2. There's a setback version...Should I just use standard, it'll be on my Trek SLR that I use for commuting/training...I don't feel my hamstrings being used much, but my quads are sore all the time
3. Is there something better at the same price range?

The Easton EA30 2-bolt is sturdy, too... and at 1/3 the price of the Thomson. I've got both, and I have the EA30 on my CX race bike. No problems.

Is the Easton better for cheaper? no, is the easton as good for cheaper, yes. I weigh 230ish and have a seatpost rack and trunk bag on it. No problems yet but I have only been riding it about a month this year.

I do CX re-mounts on mine, which involves jumping onto the bike and landing on the saddle after a running start. I'll give a full report of how parts fare after race season, but in training I haven't damaged the post beyond scuffing the finish with the straps from my seat wedge.

Ah nice, the bike shop next to my work gave me a loaner post for a few days and I've got a thomson elite on order with them, was a bit worried about my commute weight, but looks like it should be a non-issue. Thanks all
