My weight may fluctuate a couple of pounds per day but IMO, it is mostly hydration levels. 168.8 this AM.

Yep - hydration fluctuations. And for some reason, right now they are more extreme than they have typically been. Not sure why my current (low carb) diet is having that effect, but that's what has changed.

Be glad you're not female. Sometimes I HATE my body. Today, for instance...

I have been holding around 195 for the past couple of months. The last time I weighed 195 was over 35 years ago when I was in Junior High School and considerably shorter than my current 6' 2".

Great job!

194.0 this morning. Unless I'm really hydrated, I'm kinda stuck in that range right now.

191.1 Yeah baby!

I do believe I've achieved "fat-burning mode", and not eating anything until the evening some days (with no hunger pangs) can do wonders for weight loss. I'm managing to actually lose weight through the holidays, while eating full (Paleo) holiday meals and drinking wine. I'm a happy camper - will be cooking a big turkey for New Year's Eve - son and his wife will be in town. Been playing around with grain-free stuffings. Life is good.

Just know that if hunt down your neighbors cat, spear and eat it, you have taken the Paleo diet too far.

Got on the scale this AM after a week in SoCal hanging out and drinking with R'Ex, dining out, tiramisu, watching basketball and etc.

Beast.. 169 this AM. The new plyometric routine is working. I am leaner and heavier than before. AZTR would hate this. Yesterday, I stopped into Whole Foods for lunch and to pick up some buffalo. They renamed the hot side of the salad bar the "Paleo Bar". I had the grilled vegetables and pineapple pulled pork. I am not on any particular diet other than I did not want a lot of calories in the form of carbs since I was not on the bike.

This is my goal.

I had two doctor appointments over the last two days. I broke the scales in both offices. The funny part was both doctors tried to console me by telling me how "lean" I was and "how fit" and "muscle is heavier". It was a nice try, but no prize.

This weight fluctuation is just ridiculous....

Hermes, I love what you ate. Hoping there wasn't too much Pineapple... delicious, but sugary. Most people don't understand that natural, whole, and healthy doesn't mean it's good for you. Veggies are the the best (almost only) source of good carbs.

I was 191 this morning, wearing jeans and a (long sleeved, so extra heavy) shirt. And underwear. Damned near at racing weight.

Back to the diet thing. TallWIfe and I had our most strident argument ever... over my health-nazi imposition of dietary restrictions. I provide dinner every night, and it's pure Paleo. Plus I've thrown away a lot of what used to be considered staples. If someone buys tortilla chips, they better eat 'em fast.

189.3
188 is (I think) my ideal racing weight, for anything other than something like Gila, which I haven't done, but for which it would be 144.3.

I'm hovering at 170 when I wanted to be hovering at 160.

One word: Paleo.

More words. I had been gradually shifting more and more towards the protein and fat side of things, as it just works for me. Paleo just adds some additional structure, and an evolutionary basis to my decisions. For me, it's pretty straight forward. One of two things happen when you eat carbs: you burn them, or they turn to fat. Carbs don't convert to muscle. Protein does. And so much of our high-carb foods contain things I just don't want to put in my body. Hard to find something positive to say about Gluten, regardless of how sensitive you are to it.

Never had more energy than I do now, nor the total lack of hunger pangs.

Big extra wine date night last night: 187.6

In the past I'd step on the scale and the nurse would do one of those eyebrow raises.

"You look much lighter."
"I'm just very dense." (with a straight face)

Now apparently I look the same but weigh less as the eyebrows stay stationary.

They were smiling at me. I wasn't smiling back.

186.7 yesterday, 187.2 this morning. I'm in the "buffer" zone, a tick below ideal weight, and where fluctuations shouldn't put me above my desired ceiling of 190. going to just see if the current approach takes it down any further. i may have to actually consciously make myself eat more.

The only good thing about getting sick is that I lost 4 lbs. Usually I don't lose any weight when I get the flu or a cold.
