Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? Frame question new to ss

Are state bicycle frames ok? They have a Simpsons tribute frame paint job that i love. I am wanting to order the frame/forks only for now and build the rest later but don't know much about them. Frame is $200. Complete bike is $500. Wanting a project so though this might be a good start. Was thinking used but after seeing this I don't know now.

Thoughts pleased

According to the State website, the Simpsons frames are double-butted.

They're budget frames, made of metal, probably won't explode.

The three I got (and sent back) were visibly crooked. Not damaged, but welded together crooked. Pretty badly too. The paint was thin, weak, soft, and had runs. Like fingernail soft.

Wow, that sounds terrific! So you sent back three... hmmm. Did you get a fourth? ...or did you get your money back?

I quit trying after three.

Their customer service was excellent and took care of me immediately. But their warehouse made a number of shipping errors and the frames were iffy, at best.

You have notable fortitude. Most people would have quit after 2!
