Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? Philly: Track Stand & Skidding Contest Tonight (Feb. 3rd)?

I did a search and didn't find any discussion on the following:

https://philadelphia.craigslist.org/bik/130519882.html

The gist of it is that there will be a track stand and skidding competition ($10) in front of Trophy Bikes tonight (Feb. 3rd) at 20:00.

From the way it's worded, and all of the hipster bashing that's been going on on craigslist lately, I'm not sure if it's a joke. Unfortunately, I won't be able to make it, but some of my friends were interested and are wondering if anyone knows it's legit.

Enough people will probably figure it to be real, show up, and end up having a contest, haha.

If it were real, it wouldn't be in front of trophy bikes. Friday at 8pm on Walnut? That's just down-right stupid.

**edit: apparently I can't read military time.

hey evan,
none of us at the shop posted that. a couple of us saw the post and joked about going through with it but as far as i know the deal isn't on. granted if people showed up with a bunch of pbr and a copy of quicksilver i doubt they'd be turned away (regardless of what they wore). there's also plenty of places for biking hijinx underneath the train tressle next to the shop.
