saddest day of my life
The colnago is toast... those of you who have met me have seen the colnago. Well it's done... gone... dead. In an accident that I don't really remember much of, but I'm pretty sure it was my fault. My face is ****ed. I'll post back with pictures and more details later.
worst day EVER!

That's terrible news.
Sucks that the bike is trashed- tho I'm really glad that you're well enough to post about it, rather than in the ER somewhere.

Sorry to hear that another sleek machine has gone to Fixed-Gear Heaven. I'm glad that you are doing moderately well and it pains me that such a fine bicycle as a Colnago has left us. Accidents are absolutely zero fun.

Which makes me think...along with Fixed Gear Gallery, maybe we should have Fixed Gear Gallery of Deceased Bicycles Killed by Automobiles & Dangerous Drivers, as a sort of public service announcement and a place to mourn our lost loves. Just an idea.
Again, sorry to hear about this WithNail!

^^ that's really not a bad idea
I know nothing of web design or programming, so it's a good idea for someone else to partake.

Ahhh... That's horrible! I hope you find a bike that makes you feel the love again. We (paul and pista) are going to visit Chicago sometime this year. You (and some others) will have to hook us up with some good places to eat. Good luck, and I hope you are well!

Dude, so sorry, heal up quickly. That was my favorite bike in Boston, very sad, but at least you're alive. I'll buy you a drink next time I'm back up.

Oh man, that bike was like every kid's wet dream. If you were a foot taller, I would have seriously considered jumping you for your bike when I met you.
So sorry for your loss, and I'm glad your at least partially alright.

Nope, actually I was dead sober on my way to ride northbrook velodrome for the first time.
I was hoping that since I'd been racing in the Class B races in NH all season, then they would let me ride the Cat 4 race (it was the last night of the season) even thought my license says I'm a Cat 5. Either way I was going up early to at least get a couple of hours of practice in because I didn't see much hope of them letting me upgrade anyway.
I don't really remember much of the accident but it was in a construction zone where they were guiding the cars to weave in and out of the baracades. I was coming arround this SUV when it stopped short and I slammed into the back corner of it. My face (I was wearing my helmet) and shoulder hit the corner of the truck, pushed my helmet up my head and spun me arround. I landed on my face and my knees and when I came to I had gotten the wind knocked out of me. The couple in the SUV were working class immigrants driving a '93 explorer. They stuck arround even though they didn't speak any english, but luckily I speak fluent spanish. They were genuinly worried about my well being and didn't care about any of the dammage that had been done. The paramedics were the only people who were hostile in the situation, insisting that I make a decision that second if I wanted to go to the hospital (I don't have insurance). I didn't want to make a fuss because it was my fault... had I been in a car it would have been my fault... I'm on a brakeless track bike. Plus I don't want to cause a sweet couple like them any sort of trouble. The cop gave me a ride home and was very understanding, then later that night Ben/Cardstock and Chimbly had me over for some beers and took this picture of my face.
thanks for all the good words
People offered me beer and booze because I drink a lot. They know I would appretiate that... but assuming I was drunk, come on.
