Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

"...Ugly but cool reversed bars are actually some late 50's-early 60's Wald bars and stem. Surface rust, yes, but very solid and while nerdy when conventional, reversed I think gives the track bike look and actually has a good fit feel. Wrapped some weathered foam grips in expensive rubber self-sealing high grade tape so they are both soft and grippy (do not twist and slide off, well attached)."

I just have a short story. I was in my LBS today because I needed a new tube installed because mine literally exploded while I was pumping it and don't have any tools right now. This kid comes in on some ugly conversion with no foot retention and this suuuuper beefy chrome fork.

I asked "What kind of fork is that?"

"I dunno. It came wit da bike. I get hella compliments."

"Oh"

He then just grabs a floor pump, and tries to pump his tire.

"This ain't workin"

"You need to twist the valve open."

"Oh.... this still ain't workin."

"You're using the shrader valve hole. Use the one for the presta valve."

"Huh? The what? It just ain't workin. This hole is too big."

I hate people.

well duh I know that, but I don't think a sprocket smaller than 30t belongs on a 700c bike.
