Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? My Schwinn Super Sport, bought it as a mostly striped frame, added the pieces that make it comfy.

Beautiful and practical bike. Love the cranks and hubs. Campy and Phils?

It's a shame Brooks need to be tilted like that to be comfortable.

Nice Special (post 1428). Took a look at your Pedalroom specs, wondering what size those Paselas are? Looks like good clearance. I have a Special and a Classic (Wabi) and I'm always interested in diff tire/rim combos and how they work with regard to clearance. Planning to install fenders on the Classic, since it has the "hidden" threaded mounts.

I as well, although my interest this time around is in fenders, not racks. Doesn't this mean that - clearances notwithstanding - virtually any bike can run fenders? I assume P clips can be added to the rear stays (seat stays would be the best place, if I had to guess) as well.

yup, planetbikes popular speedez "clip on" fenders basically function around a pseudo quick-release p-clip

same deal with racks (except on the heavy end of load capacity) surly sells extensions that allow you to attach virtually any rack to any frame, even without brake holes

I already put this in the 2016 Megathread, but it probably works better here:

P-clips and some creativity and you can jam full fenders on basically anything. It's nice to have a dremmel handy for tight fits. Also racks.

Personally I don't bother with any type of fender that's not full coverage; if it's regularly wet where you're riding more coverage is better, particularly on a townie as you want to get where you're going and stay clean lookin'.

Work split fenders into the equation for mastery of the raciest frame/big tire combos...I've run 28's on a 90's Bianchi race bike in the snow before with home made split fender brackets.

Does this count or is it just a bike with a basket?
