Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

$1000 and a dream

Build a bike. Something for all around fun - street riding, casual track time, etc – but no required use. It's your bike. You have $1000 (nothing more) and you must pay retail. Forget about shipping or tax. Spend it or loose it. We can allow vintage and used gear if you price them a believable/reasonable rate but don't over do it. edit: Lets add that your being sent to the new 'Bikes only' colony on the newly atmospherized planet Mars so this is the only bike you'll have for the next 10 years.

Tonic Fab Fall Guy with Profiles, old TA fork and Odyssey cassette rear hub, 20mm front, whatever 24" rims and tires I can grab, Primo tenderizers, random BMX parts to finish. That is one tight jawn.

Looks something like this (only in baby blue):
