Bikes: Lots. Mostly steel. Mostly heavy. Mostly geared, and very low, at that.

Chromoly atac cleats?

I keep hearing rumors about Chromoly cleats for Time Atac pedals. Anybody have any idea where to get some?

Why do you want them? They would probably ruin your pedal mechanism quite quickly. That's why the cleats are softer, so they wear instead of the pedal.

I have about 7000mi on a single pair of ATAC cleats - they have deep grooves from the pedal retention bars. (They are definitely overdue to replace, but the still don't pop out like SPDs did after 500mi)

I believe they're the cleats for these exustar pedals, which nashbar doesn't seem to have in stock now. I remember them as being really cheap, like less than $10.
I agree with Noisebeam - you're going to be wearing the tension bar on the pedal, and the brass cleats can be found for $15... not worth it IMO. However, if you want to be the board guinea pig, I'd be interesting in seeing what happens. I guess with new Aliums being $45, it's not going to be a horrible sacrifice.

I forgot all about this thread.... oops. The reason why is that I wear out my cleats and shoes in about four months 'cuz I walk on them all the time. I'd prefer something that was a bit more durable that would hopefully help my shoes last a little longer too.

so, how exactly would this help your shoes last longer?

also, you walking on the cleats does not wear them out, as the place where the cleats interface with the bars of the pedal is not a part that you walk on.

The cleats are intentionally made of a softer material than the pedal, so that the cleat does not wear on the pedal. Cleats are cheap and easy to change.
