Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? OT: the coolest and scariest robot EVAR!

So... I feel as though this is going to be the end of civilization. Just put an AI head on that sucker and teach it to do calculus and this whole humans being dominant thing is over.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W1czBcnX1Ww

If you like robotics, the whole vid is mad cool. But at like... 35-40 seconds in, it starts to get REALLY exciting.

I saw that on The Car Lounge last week or so. It's the beginning of the end. We're going to be murdered and processed into the ethanol needed to power these things.

Yeah....way to human for me.

Those reactions are bone chilling! It looks like two people walking backwards with a couch on their heads.

Ugh

There are a lot of scientists working on AI internationally that believe our next big evolutionary step forward will be self induced.

Gentleman, say hello to Cro-magnon man.

Actually to be honest I just got done reading the hot zone. I'm of the camp that a pandemic will set us back a good 1/4 of the species before to long.

Whether it's some breed of Marburg or Avian.

I will admit, this thing with a couple automated gun turrets on it scares me, but until it can resupply it's own ammo/electricity I'm not all that concerned.

independent thought/decision making would be interesting but also a little unnerving.

2 stroke engines. STEALTHY! I'm guessing they were just to generate electricity, in the indoor tests it was quiet but tethered with a big honkin' cable.

Well, I'd imagine the final iteration before it's deployed will indeed have atleast rudimentary decision making abilities.

You've seen the Crusher right? This thing makes all kinds of decisions.

https://www.strategypage.com/military...822814148.aspx

I wouldn't call it sentient, but that's kind of a different type of research, which will eventually converge with this technology.

I feel like that thing is like one of those pull back and release toy cars compared to Big Dog.

Well, one emulates familiar lifelike movement, so I can see how you say that but lets be realistic about what they both do.

Big dog processing is almost entirely formulating how to stand, similarly to Asimo.

The crusher on the other hand is already outfitted with weapons systems, is capable of route decision making over several hundred mile courses/designated patrol routes, and will be in use relatively soon.

While the big dog is more creepy, I can tell you which one I'd be more displeased to see driving down the street.

I totally hear you on that. Im just saying... that video of the crusher seems like its the trailer for a new teen comedy movie. ie. All the good parts are shown in the video (trailer).

It seemed like every time that thing was supposed to be making a decision it got more confused than the military wants to let on and the video got edited (cut).

Weaponising something isn't hard. I'll weaponise the **** out of anything. With the payload design of bigdog, you'll be able to ride it like a horse. Its essentially the "modern" version of an AT-ST.

Start befriending Ewoks.
