well the kilo can't fit much more than a 28c tire. in fact, it's a huge if with 25c depending on chain length and whatnot.
i wouldn't like to take my kilo on snowy roads. put knobby tires on an sst and you'll find a little more sucess.

just a question, not being a dick.
the motobecane, dawes, mercier, etc. bikes that you guys have are of no relation with the old brands of the same name, right? their websites look bunkish, and I'm just confused about who is who?
again, not being a dick

motobecane, dawes, and mercier all have stopped marketing in the US, leaving the names up for grabs. that way, bikesdirect and its affiliates can use the names. luckily for us, they also use the same factories overseas as many of the other big brands like KHS and probably Trek or whatever, so the frames and components are all of good quality. the road bikes in particular are excellent buys.

Anyone know when the Kilos will be up for pre order?

That was my first inclination. My road bike is a 60, I guess I just want to make sure that I'm not getting something that will be too big.

Thanks for the input. I've also been thinking about the Schwinn Madison. What would you guys think of the Dawes vs. the Madison?

probably the dawes, its cheaper, and i think looks cooler, plus it comes with horns and i really think it is a good urban assault bike, now if you want more of a track/true fixed gear (since the sst is a SS and can be a fixed gear) i'd go with either the madison, Kilo, or Hour

I've test rode them both at Performance Bike: an SE Lager (which is the Dawes SST) and the Madison. The Madison is noticeably heavier at 23 LBS, while the Dawes comes in a bit lighter at 21.5 LBS. The Madison was a beautiful bike and it felt better than the SE Lager, but that might not mean much because the Madison was a couple sizes too big and the SE Lager was 1 size too small. For $329 for the SST, you really can't beat it. If they had the Madison in my size that day, I would have probably have purchased it, based on cosmetic purposes (the SE Lager's brown is ugly, imo.)

I've feel the same way. It was too late when I was considering too. just weeks ago i was indecisive about the silver hour or waiting for a kilo. then I got indecisive about getting an orange motobecane. finally, i've concluded that if I had waited this long, i might as well wait for a kilo. Breaking my piggy bank(sic) for something more than that has been tough to consider.

It looks like BD has the Kilo available for preorder. I've been debating between the Kilo and the Dawes as my first fixed/ss bike. I would probably use it primarily as a weekend bike and maybe a commuter. Does anyone have a suggestion on which would be better?
I hear that the frame on the Kilo is better so it has more upgrade potential (like people are more likely to keep the frame while upgrading components), but has a more aggressive track geometry.

JURY photos coming soon
once the frames hit - in aboiut 5 weeks
Kilo TT is same as currrent bike but up grade parts
{funny thing is; I see lots of posts that people love the Kilo TT but feel the wheels are the weak spot - BUT I HAVE NEVER SEEN AN ACTUAL PROBLEM WITH CURRENT KILO - including wheels. My only issue with Kilo is getting enough made quick as I need them!]
Kilo TT Pro should be in 3 months from now or sooner.

Working on a KILO WTF - which would be WideTireFriendly -- comments?
I would love to hear suggestions on that

Just ordered a black 53cm kilo, and will probably end up ordering a pro when they come out. Any idea what the difference between the normal Kilo and the Pro is?
