Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Do you tend to ride alone, or with others?

Are you part of any local scenes or groups where you ride, or do you tend to just do what you do and not ride with others?

I commute a lot, for one thing, so all alone there, and also, I often ride to "get away from it all", clear my mind and so forth.

Not a fan of riding with a few other people. I don't trust friends alongside me in traffic. I'm down if it's a big group and we just sort of control traffic and do whatever we want.

mostly i ride by myself since i commute daily. but i try to do an organized ride at least once a month, whether it's a full blown century or just something local like Critical Mass or a Times Up! ride. I also try to get my friends to ride with me (usually 1 or 2 friends) but I only succeed occasionally due to their laziness.

I ride with friends mostly. Commute is too far and inconsistent for biking.
