Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

the lower your gear inches the easier it is to pedal. and buy a bunch of cheap cogs. find out what works bet for you.

Forget the terminology. Go ride a geared bike and find one that you are comfortable riding around everywhere in. That's the gear you probably want on your fixed bike. Keep in mind you can't coast down hills.
