I've been riding fixed for a couple years on a Pake. Initially, my plan was to get good parts and switch out my frame after. Now, I am thinking otherwise. The frame is the most important part of bike, obviously. I want a classic, steel, lugged frame.

I work at Pita Pit on the east side. Not NEARLY as crazy as downtown, most the time, I am just riding through neighborhoods (25-40 miles per shift). But the chances of getting nailed by a car are slim.

This bike will be both my work bike/luxury bike.

What should I go with? I know NJS frames have lots of toe-overlap but I feel its something I could get used to... Is a Panasonic frame un****withable like a Pake is? At first I was looking at Pista Concepts but.. Aluminum.. that's pretty ****ing risky.

Also, my Pake is 53cm and I feel like it would be PERFECT at 54cm. And I know classic, steel track frames are measured differently.. so...

Its still a long time coming, just trying to come up with a game plan here.

NJS Keirin frames have rear spacing of 110mm, you can get it cold set or you could buy a new rear wheel, laced onto a Dura Ace or Phil hub, also Keirin frames have TIGHT track geometry.
You know, you can wait til October, BD is launching a lugged Kilo TT, it'll be nice and it will be at a reasonable price.
Aluminium is not that risky, just make sure you don't drop them...although road buzz and such might not be comfortable to deal with.
If you are into shiny, nickel plated, lugged frame...here's an affordable one.

Alien bikes have really nice frames. Unfortunately they're sold out but they still have 53 cm frames. I think they're very classy. Bertelli Bici uses them in his builds. Anyways, you can get them in black or raw (to be powdercoated to a color of your liking).

Not all NJS frames have 110mm spacing I think. The earlier ones does for sure though. My 3rensho is at 120mm rear spacing.

Alien bikes seems okay. Viking bikes are aliens with different tubing. Also check out Brother Cycles. I would so buy one if only they made them in my size

You're right, 110mm was old NJS standard, 120mm are more common among racers and frame builders nowadays.

I'm kind of stoked for the lugged Kilo.

Are you really going to convert your Peugeot Nice?

Aluminum isn't that bad. It won't dent if you look at it funny, but you do need to be a little more careful, as the walls are thinner.

I really liked that orange frame. I think I found my next frame purchase, that is after I finish this build I am on.

Yea. I think I'll repaint it. It's quite scratched and I have to say pink is not my favorite color
Transfer most of my kilo tt parts onto it and make it into a townie with fenders and racks. Since my kilo pretty much have the classic townie theme going on already.

110 and 120 have been an option for NJS frames for a very long time.

As for the aluminum being risky. Aluminum now is a lot better than what it used to be when it was new for bicycles. If your going to trick on it though I wouldn;t suggest it or an NJS frame.
I have had a couple NJS frames are they have both been really solid and the workmanship is noticeable.

I also am anticipating the lugged kilo!

Maybe a Cinelli Gazetta? Not ungodly expensive but a well built frame. Comes in colors too. Or maybe a Broakland.

OP, if u don't need it to be track specific you can also find a nice lugged road frame.
