Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

another one of bd's "secret sales"...

https://www.bikesdirect.com/products/se/stout.htm

for anybody who's (short &) been wanting to try a ss mtb this is is a very decent bike & it rings up for only $200 when put in the cart, you can't go wrong for that

unfortunately there's only 15" left...

If you price the MMXII vs the standard Gara the price difference isn't even much, since the MMXII doesn't come with a fork

Either way, all of these framesets have the same geo, according to their sales rep who I talked to directly. I also believe both are double butted 6061 aluminum
Au contraire - the mass-marketed version that was available in the US through Leader is standard 6061-AL and the Italian ones are custom-drawn/butted Dedacciai Fire 7003-AL. Also, the fork that was available with the MMXII Gara is similar in design but is not an Alpina fork.

Uh-oh. the 15" almost has my optimal MTB top tube of 58cm, just a few mm shy. Another MTB, that's about the last thing I need...

Gotta say though, lugged fork with an ovalized aero aluminum frame looks bizarre. https://bikeisland.com/images/1204014.JPG
I agree, but still not a bad deal for $109 ...

Bern Brentwood Black XL : $15

Bern Macon Black XL : $16

I picked up a Brentwood several weeks ago for around $26 -- it was also listed as "used" but it arrived in mint condition.
