Vintage De Rosa Pista

Can anyone verify that this is actually a De Rosa frameset? The rear triangle was rebuilt at the time of a re-paint. Decal set is from the 70's, the frame is supposedly from the 80's. No serial #.

I have poked around a little and haven't been able to verify the authenticity of this frameset, outside of what is found on https://prollyisnotprobably.com/.

Thanks in advance!

That's most beautiful track bike I've ever seen.

I prefer an ugly SS/FG. No one wants to steal it!

That De Rosa is more like a painting or valuable jewelry.

Too bad its an instant bike thief magnet!

Oo, pretty. C&V forums are probably more helpful in the "identify my old bike department" . . .

That's a mighty purty bike pictured there. I've always had a soft spot for De Rosa.

+1. they will know, but i'll say a serial number will go great lengths in determining authenticity.

it does have the triangle out of the BB behind the seattube, as de rosa's had, as well as the obvious marking on the seatstays. i would ASSUME it's real. the fork looks correct too

+1 to this too, though. Very pretty, but I don't think any frame is worth that much to me. Unless maybe it's titanium.

here we are.

i can enjoy the HELL out of life on a 200 dollar frame. until i start pulling down big bucks, i'm not about to go thinking a 1300 frameset, no matter WHAT IT IS, would be worth the 1100 extra when i'm on the road. this bike is the kind of thing you hang from the ceiling with fishing line and let adorn your luxury condo as you take in the skyline with an italian fashion model and a glass of scotch that costs more than the frameset.

De Rosa's usually sell for $$$. NOS = $$$$$. It's a beautiful frame regardless of personal implied value.

Frankly only a bike made of Scrodium would be worth that price tag.

Thanks, very helpful. Maybe I'll find one made out of Youradip**** while i'm at it.

In the meantime, I don't believe you will be finding too many titanium De Rosa's for $1300.

Despite all the fancy cut outs, engraving, lining etc, this is a very ordinarily crafted frame that is no better than some modern lugged frames being manufactured in Taiwan and sold for less. If you really want something special, then you need to look at custom built frames that represent may hours of careful sanding, filing and thinning of the lugs and other markers of master craftmanship.

Is that so?
If i'm not mistaken, you are saying that a hand made vintage steel De Rosa is no better than, let's say a Taiwanese assembly line Bianchi pista? Also that if i am after real quality I should go custom? Let me get the logic behind this.

Even though I've always had nice bikes, I used to think "a bike is a bike" and then a De Rosa fell into my lap and everything changed after one ride.
