If you're just going to be using your old run of the mill desktop stereo speakers/ headphones and no plans of expanding to surround audio, than there's absolutely no need. The performance is parallel in that aspect.
My nephew said the same thing... "buckle up".

Just got a new HD LG tv / monitor that has surprisingly good audio, a fairly decent headset, and plan to pipe my sound out through an amp into my home speakers when all I want to do is rack the tunes and jam on my guitar.

A better than average sound card won't be a waste here.

I hope this doesn't explain squirelli's rather recent disappearance.

went back to my high-end LBS, asked for a 1/2x3/32 chain:

"how many speeds?"

"uh...one."

"then you mean 1/2x1/8."

"no, really i just need a 3/32. it's for my fixed commuter." then showing him the panel i tore off the box from the last chain.

"fine (rolls eyes), i guess." finally handing me a chain from behind the counter...

......why. so. difficult.

Yesterday I found out I need a new headset cuz mine got damaged in shipping, and my chainring and cog are worn down to the point of needing replaced. I'm debating just getting a new bike, or buying a frame and building it with a combination of stuff I've already bought and things I need.

Last night I averaged 19.85 mph over my 7 mile commute and peaked at 26.5, running 46/16. Not bad, especially after working for 13.5 hours in a kitchen.

Today I'm surrounded by a sea of drunken ******** wearing green and smelling of cheap booze. Kill me now.

Because you asked for the wrong thing, then argued with him about it.

He asked for a chain. The guy should have gotten him the chain he asked for.

He didn't ask for the wrong chain either...

typo'd the 1/8x3/32 i assumed... meant 1/2x3/32?

yes. typo......fixed it.

funny part is i was warned about the shop, but it's the only bike shop w/ actual bike stuff out right now.

the owner likes to -tell- people what they need, rather than suggest.

You can skip the pitch info when buying chains, BTW, unless you're shopping for chain on a bike older than your grandmother.

Went for lots of miles of riding last two days with a friend; found out we are going to be co-hosting a bit of a touring ride in a month and that we're setting up a mountain bike/CX-style race.

So first I did this:

https://app.strava.com/rides/5320708

Really tough. Held on until mile 16.5, then went with a group of slower guys. Pretty much every guy there was in their 30's; I was the youngest guy there by far.

Then I lifted weights for an hour.

Now I don't want to move.

Rained in; spent some quality time on my kinetic trainer in front of the TV. Had no idea the new season of south park started; associating the TSA w/ the toilet = genius.
