Thank the glorious thunderstorm (complete with tornado warnings and sirens) last night for making today's weather nothing short of brilliant. It had been so hot this week. I woke up at 3AM for a short ride and had a wonderful time. As soon as I'm done working, this day will be assimilated.

Stripped an axle nut on my front wheel, had to ride with only one side secure for 1.5 miles to go pick up my car from a night of partying. Didn't die.

Had hernia surgery. Still a bit groggy from the meds, so I'll keep it brief. Just wanted y'all to know it all went w/o a hitch, but I'll be off the bike for a few weeks and no hard efforts for 6 weeks per the doc's orders. Anyways, this will give me a chance to work on my colorways.

Had hernia surgery. Still a bit groggy from the meds, so I'll keep it brief. Just wanted y'all to know it all went w/o a hitch, but I'll be off the bike for a few weeks and no hard efforts for 6 weeks per the doc's orders. Anyways, this will give me a chance to work on my colorways.

As for me I did 36 miles on the Samson today. I REALLY need to change the bars on it. I rode from my place in North Bergen across the GWB, down the greenway to the staten island ferry and back. It was a great ride!

Right now... Porsche 944, 80s BMW 325, 60s/70s muscle.
I'll most likely skip the 60s/70s muscle (this time around...) because I won't have enough time to get one up and running by the end of the summer. The idea is to find something driveable that I can sort of continuously work on in small chunks.
Some people think this is dumb, but I think an older 325 with an LS1 dropped in would be ridiculously awesome because of the weight distribution across the four wheels. The handling of a BMW + the power of AMERICA! But again, that doesn't look like something I could handle in a relatively short period of time since I'm essentially starting from a car maintenance knowledge level of 1% (I can change engine oil). I also don't have an engine lift, but pretty much every other coworker I work with does...

None of those cars sound economical/ suited for DIY repair/ learner to be honest... german over engineering's maintenance cost is just ridiculous nonetheless and german cars go south after a certain period of time; trust me on this one.

I like your idea of the 325 actually, but leuky's got a point with the germans. It doesn't sound like it's projected to be economical in any way (most project cars aren't, and they're a lot more fun). Anyway, I'd probably get a buddy that knows a lot about cars and do the project with him, given your ambition and experience.

Just got back from a great ride! Tried to help a woman cyclist on the side of the road but I couldn't do anything much accept help her search up the number for the cab company on my iphone. She had a very impressive road build for a woman; but this was her demise today, she had a reynolds carbon wheelset that took tubulars, and she got a flat.

My old man daily drives a purple volvo 960 wagon that he dropped a LS1 and 6 speed from a late model GTO in. Project cars don't need to be constant headaches. I daily'd a saab 900 with 300whp in high school, 23lbs of boost and still got 30mpg!
