Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? fixie is a dumb street slang word meaning any bike with a fixed gear.

track bike is more specific. that is NOT a track bike.

you are trolling, or this is a stupid stupid stupid semantic thread.

that bike sucks, too.

Short answer: yes.

Anyway, that bike looks like it's meant to be built up as a single speed. Not sure about it's origins but it appears as though other people on BF do and it's not very nice. ?

Your bike is fine, there's nothing wrong with a Scrambler, nor other 1/8" parts. Ride it, who cares if it's a "fixie or track"

BTW to help with your original question: fixie is just slang for a fixed-gear bike. So, any fixed-gear track bike could technically be called a fixie:

Not Track. Cable guides under top tube. Brakes. Stem. Handlebars. Ain't no riding that setup on track.

Furthermore, gussets make me think it's designed for "stunt" riding.

Referring to a fixed gear bicycle as a "fixie" is to use a term which has been around since the turn of last century. People who have only been alive for 20-some odd years who think they own exclusive rights to some sort of "sub-culture" need to get over it.

You think we're all dicks? Good luck sticking around, kid.

A track bike is made for...

...the track.

No brakes or braze-ons for cables, no quick releases, beefy crank, etc. They differ from generic fixies because they're built for a racing series, much like tri bikes are different from regular race bikes.
