I dig the purple. It's an unusual kinda lavendery purpley sorta color. Monochromatic and logoless FTW.

The bars remind me of the 31.8 On One "Mary" bars I had. I like the bend but the reach was too much for me. Stiff as hell and good for wheelies though.

Scrod, I know you've become a big supporter of Aventon as of late, and I was wondering if you had any experience with their LA30 wheelset, yet? Great price, but is it a good buy? Looking for a new wheelset.

Asking for my advice and posting a link to CityGrounds FTW.

The LA30 wheelset is huge bang for your buck and we've sold a ton of them, both locally and online. Think Mavic Ellipses with better hubs for less than half the price. And in case you're wondering, the rim logos are removable using nail polish remover.

My bad LOL, that was just the first link that popped up.

I actually like the rim logos. Hoping to pick up a set soon, if I do, they'll be from Retrogression.

I was just kidding!

They are really nice wheels, though. Everyone I know riding them is very happy with them.

My gf's birthday present this year was a 50cm BK in the same color. such a sweet frame and paint combo, her's is set up with silver components and it looks so good in a totally different way. Also I've been on the fence about those bars, but seeing your set-up with those grips has sold me, i'm getting them. curious if you have tried them flipped upside down or know anyone that has?

I've never used them flipped the other way but I'm sure they wouldn't be too bad. I happen to think they look better flipped up and I wanted to be a little more upright.

I've also found that by using track grips, I'm not limited to only one hand position. I actually like stretching out a little and resting my hands in the bends sometimes, especially when riding on a bike path or other long, straight road. Great bars.

Hello scrod, I was wondering if you would consider the 62 BB drop on the wabi special too low? How would that frame compare to the geometry on eai/Toyo Godzilla? Is the Godzilla geo too trackish for riding strictly on streets?

I ride a Bare Knuckle (which has the exact same geo as a Godzilla) on the street and think it's perfect.

I've never ridden a Wabi so I have no way of making an actual real-world comparison.

Hey Scrod, I ordered a set of Archetypes laced to Gran Compe hubs from you guys on Saturday. Miraculously, they were waiting for me when I got home from work yesterday. I'm not sure what kind of quantum worm-hole you used to get them to Virginia that fast but thanks for some great service. If you could do something about all the snow here, that would be great too.

im pretty sure i have a handle on this, but i just wanna run this by another human to make sure

i have a bike with an integrated headset, i cannot use a zero-stack headset because the cup reduces the diameter of the headtube and bearing, correct?

Correct.

If the bearing OD is 41mm and the contact angle is the same, you can omit the cups and use the rest of the headset but unless you already have it, there's no point in doing that.

yeah, i had wanted to use a cane creek angleset but i realized that since my bike has no cups thats not really possible.

since its tapered i could use one cup on the top, but it still needs the gimbals on either side so it wouldnt work anyway. bummer.

This is what I hate about integrated headsets, because you are pretty much locked into one setup only. Also, you often need to futz around with shims and whatnot to compensate for imperfections in the headtube machining.

Hi Scrod,

What are those bars? I looked through the thread and couldn't find the name of them. Then again I can't read.

^ I was just looking at the FSA Metropolis bar on your site, which seems similar but for a 31.8 clamp which would work better for me. Thinking about trying it out with track grips, to replace the bullhorns on my commuter and make it a bit more relaxed. Think that'd work well? How far would the Yoshida grips extend onto those bars?

Metropolis bars are pretty similar in bend and shape but the grip area is a little longer. Track grips will cover the flat portion and just barely touch the bends.

Ok thanks... I was digging the idea of using the bends sometimes, so maybe I'll just wrap em.

I know no one has the same butt, but I'm looking for a new saddle. Which ones would you say are the most popular or the best sellers on RG?
