I'm giving the pedals a pass since the owner claims this '78 Keirin bike is NOS and has never been ridden...

I have a hard time believing that crank/chainring is stock.

Whatever it might be it sure is purdy! Probably one of the few track drops I love unconditionally.

Yup - that crank is a fixed 49t chainring

Think that I've pestered the owner and even may have questioned him a bit too harshly - so likely won't get any more info out of him, but you can also see what he calls an "earlier" NJS stamp in the pics. Guess this bike may not have been for Keirin after all but as veganbikes said, "Whatever it might be it sure is purdy!"

Wait, so the overpriced mash fixiecrosshipstersled doesn't even have a built in rear cable hanger for the rear brake?

To be fair, a lot of regular cyclocross bikes don't even have them.

Hipster sled or not, I really like that "work" frame. I don't dig the price, but I like the frameset.

The 120mm rear spacing is silly for anything other than a track bike. This should be 130mm.

As a guy who spent a lot of time cx-ing a Steamroller, I'm right there with you.

Eh, it's not like you're gonna put gears on it. I get what you're saying but I don't think they made a mistake by giving it a 120 rear end. They're selling to guys who have track wheels laying around. A 'mainstream' cyclocross racer isn't looking at this frame.

Thing is, I hate canti brakes. So, if I ever get a SSCX, I'd want it to have disc brakes, which means having 130mm rear spacing.

If i wanted disc brakes I would want 135 rear spacing, easier to get disc wheels in 135 than 130. My CX has 135 rear spacing (and discs).

However for the bike pictured above, I would like it in 120, so I could run it fixed.

I am never going to race CX so my preferences don't really matter, but I am guessing some of those Cinelli's will end up as fixed gear.
