Is this track bike worth the price?

Hi,

I found someone selling a Shogun track bike for $500
Here's the link: https://demploi.posterous.com/the-shogun

It also comes with"For 500 it comes with sugino 68x103 bb, hatta njs headset, sugino rd2r cranks, origin 8 track pedals, origin 8 stem, nitto rb019 bars with track grips and a 650c hplusson 42mm all black front wheel with tube and tire, saddle and seatpost."

Is it worth $500?

I would guess he's selling it because it's super uncomfortable on the street.

Maybe..

It has a 650c front wheel and 650c fork. I was going to change it to 700c so it rides a little more comfortably

That would probably throw off the geometry and make it ride really funny, but that is just a guess.

I would get something with more street geo, I highly doubt a 700c would fit that fork. EDIT: I know if you buy that bike it might be cool for the first ride or 2, after that your backs gonna hurt and your going to have it on craigslist for $400.

op...what would you use that bike for?

do yourself a favor & really look around this forum a bit more before blowing that bike off based on the advice you might get here

personally, if it was local to me...after looking at it in person, if it met my standards...i would negotiate with the seller...

I have a Nishiki Linier, its more extreme but similar to that. I love the bike. It is a lot of fun to ride, ON THE FEW OCCASIONS that I do take it out. It is by no means comfortable, and I would never ride it everyday. But I am glad I have it, because I love that era of cycling. If you want the bike, and think its worth that much, buy it. But dont think you will ride it all the time.

I ride a 53cm Blk IRO Angus everyday on the streets (Nitto RB021 bullhorn, Brooks saddle, IRO stock wheels, etc..components)

I tried to research this bike as Shogun Track bike and no videos on Youtube.com but I did not find much information about it.

I just thought this might have been a good deal, a nice project I can work on, and ride once in a while.

That's because it's not a shogun track bike.

It's a converted shogun TT bike.

Ohhh..

The rear drop for the derailleur was cut off right? It looked like a track bike from the pictures

A more detailed reading of the description and its easy to see that this bike started as a road frame. Also its hard for me to trust any bike with a replacement fork(too much detail that is easy to overlook), but for a "funny bike" I would steer very wide from it.
