Selle Italia Turbo Reissue: Okay for very wide sit bones?

Hi BFSSFG!

I'm trying to put together a shopping list to breathe some new life into my Raleigh Technium 440. It's going to be a retro but not classic style (i.e. some more modern components, but not trying to look like a 2000s bike) Hence, I thought a Turbo Reissue would be a great saddle. It seems like tons of people on here love them to. Only problem is I have really wide sit bones. According to my butt and my width specific Bontrager inform RXL saddle, my sit bones are about 154mm wide, which the widest of their three sizes. Anybody else with similarly wide pelvic bones find the turbo to be a good fit?

Im not sure if my sit bone is wide but my buttocks is a little on the bigger side so perhaps it is?
I find the turbo reissue uncomfortable on longer rides. it sorta makes me miss my charge spoon.
I recently started wearing bib shorts underneath everything, so now I love my turbo.
My 2cents. Hope that was helpful.

My Vinyl Turbo is 143mm in width, I don't think you should go for it. Might be OK, but not perfect.

EDIT: Might not know what I'm talking about because some people say the leather reissue is leaps and BOUNDS ahead of the vinyl Turbo in terms of comfort. All I know is that my turbo is close to an ass hatchet.

Thanks, Calv and Tristan

Yeah, ass size and sit bone width don't necessarily relate to each other. I'm 155 lbs and 6'1 (i.e. no ass) but still have wide pelvic bones even with a 32" waist. The Charge Spoon and my Bontrager Inform RXL have been the only two saddles I've found to be wide enough.

Maybe there's a brooks that would fit well???

I know it's not retro, but Specialized Romin and Toupe come in 155mm.

If I could get either in brown I would be happy. I'm going for the brown tape, brown saddle, skinwall tires look on this one. I might just end up with a brown spoon or something.

This doesn't sound very appetizing.

Apparently the Spoon is only 140mm wide so maybe a Turbo would be okay. I know my dad has a Ritchey turbo knock-off that I might try out to make sure.

perhaps san marco super corsa measures up differently if you like the look of the turbo.

i took this into account when deciding. the spoon is quite flat at the back which probably contributes to how comfortable it is. the turbo on the other hand (despite being the same width as the spoon) curves which seperates my buttcheeks slightly.

I ride a 143mm Specialized saddle and the Turbo was a tad too narrow for me. I could deal with it for short track races, but definitely not longer road rides. If you need a 154mm saddle then the Turbo will feel awful.

Specialized makes brown saddles for some models, like the Format SL:

And this Toupe:

I have a wider waist and I ride a Turbo. It also depends on your riding position since your sit bones narrow as your lean forward at the waist.

Edit
I don't know my sit bone width but the Turbo feels like narrowest I can ride comfortably.

I see you got the Spoon. Hope it works out

You might have better luck looking at women's specific saddle geometry. It's not like anyone's really gonna know. =]

We'll know.

Especially if it's obnoxiously stamped with "Lady" or "Diva" on the side.

But teasing aside, this is worth consideration.
