Big Block or Langster? Need a dual purpose bike
I know both bikes are made from different materials, but i think they have similar geo. Have ridden both, both felt pretty good to me. But I'm going to test ride again before buying.
I want a bike that will allow me a few things 1) exercise (a given with any bike), 2) a means of commuting to work a very short distance away.

which one will stand up to being locked up?
I'm not sure what else I need out of a single speed bike. solid frame that fits well, decent components, priced at or under $800? honestly can't think of anything else. anyone with experience with either or both bikes care to chime in on how they hold up over time?

Big block, no question. The top tube is a bit longer on big blocks for clearance reasons. As far as I know it will barspin a 25c.
Langsters are ugly...

But, barspins! Not being able to barspin is definitely a reason to choose one bike over the other.

Really, with your criteria choose which ever bike looks better to you and the one you think you will like more. Specialized sure has a reputable name in the bike industry, but the Big Block is one nice bike.

Sizing on the Big Block seems a little odd, to me. I test rode a 55 or a 56, can't remember which size. Im typically a 58. But their 58 has too long of a top tube, IIRC

Your cog is slipping.
Must've been a 55 - they don't come in 56cm.
