Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? a truly clean flat black paint job is a work of art, even though its the least exciting paintjob you can have...

:shudder:

i dont understand a matte finish on an actual color though. guy on the island has a orangey-yellow colored charger with a matte finish. looks like a ****in block of cheese.

Yeah, that's true, satin black paint lays in really nicely. My 88 Scirocco was rattle canned satin black and everyone thought it was a pro job. The secret is to put the can you are gonna be using in a bucket of hot water for a few minutes prior, then shake(obviously)..Works really well.

You guys are gonna hate the bike I'm building right now, hahaha.... Olive drab with satin black fork, single speed.......

A couple years ago it stated showing up in MotoGP racing too. Dull helmets. Dull fairings. These are multimillion dollar machines performing in a race environment. Seems to me, THAT is the appropriate arena for flashy livery.

Maybe they think it looks "stealth".

I bet the manufacturers love it. Fewer steps in the process. costs less/charge more.

I think there's some allure to having a fancy bike (motorcyle, car, whatever) and stripping all the badges and logos from it and having it be plain (flat black or whatever). To me it says the owner cares more about the sum of the parts than how the parts look, and they use it as a tool instead of just showing it off.

I'm all for the no badges and no decals look. I guess I just like shiny toys.

thats always been my thing, at least with motors. flat black everything who cares what it is lets haul ass.
rat bikes that dominate some goon in full leathers on a repsol replica bike, all while making sounds like its gonna put a crack in the earth is my kinda flavor.

though in recent years ive learned i lean towards a more utilitarian look on just about everything so idunno what that says

You had me there for a minute; thank goodness that's not real.

Also, on a more important note, you shouldn't clamp cdale 3.0's anywhere aside from a mounted seatpost. There should be a warning sticker on the seattube.

It is hard as all get out. I have two bikes with it and I did half of one of them and I was sweating. I didn't do that bad but you can tell which side I did and which side our head mechanic did. I bet I could have done better if I was sitting at home more relaxed but I was feeling the pressure of doing real well and also getting out of work so I wouldn't have to help customers anymore. I would love to one day tackle a three color wrap which we think we have figured out.
