Why are people so afraid of getting Brooks saddles wet? They are made of thick leather. Army boots, horse saddles and motorcycle saddle bags are made of leather and certainly don't disintegrate in the rain.

My Swift didn't disintegrate but it got uncomfortably saggy after I neglected it in the rain.

I've gotten mine wet a few times, it'll stain, and it's softer when wet, but not really an issue.

I assume those people don't actually own a Brooks saddle and use that as a justification for buying something else. Mine is certainly holding up well here in rainy Vancouver.

I had problems with mine in Portland. I had a 16-mile each way commute and rode most days off too, had to park my bike in a damp basement so the saddle would often go days without drying out.

Fenders might have helped some, but racing bikes with fenders still makes me cringe sometimes.

And i hate how a broken-in one gets sticky when wet. Does not feel good on the inner thigh. So yeah, I'd only choose one for a bike that only saw maybe 3 hours rain riding a month, tops.

you put proofhide on the underside of the saddle helps keep it water proof.

I had a pretty good long dirt ride with a pal tonight. The dirt was rather easy but I was exhausted from riding the super steep road route to the trails.

Really tempted to put cx tires on my commuter but realized thanks to the year round awesome weather around here; there's no point.

#firstworldproblems .

Today I sacked myself real nice, was on a 4-5% hill and at a stop but decided to cut left onto the sidewalk to make a call and when I turned the handlebar, instead of moving I just fell over straight onto the boys. I just laid there laughing, I hope someone saw it.

Opened an ebay case for that Atmos Raw, still hasn't shipped, sick of waiting. Should of had it weeks ago.

That's fine. About to buy my friend's Pax Ploom instead.
